Being one of the newest railway stations in town, it is a modern and less crowded station compared to Majestic or KR Puram on the metro line, but it is yet to catch up with these stations in terms of direct metro access. This station was built to reduce the pressure on other busy railway hubs. Trains from many parts of India — including Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Chennai and more — now use SMVT as their Bengaluru stop.

The only thing is: the metro does not go directly to SMVT. But the next best thing? It passes very close to it.

That would be Baiyappanahalli Metro Station. It is the last stop on the Purple Line of the Namma Metro, and it is the closest you can get to SMVT using the metro.

Take the Purple Line heading toward Baiyappanahalli

Travel time: 15 to 25 minutes in most cases.

From South Bangalore (like Jayanagar, Banashankari, JP Nagar)
